Theme of redemption
Scrooge was shown his fate and he decided to change his ways, the idea of redemption. He changed his fate by changing his behaviour
Dickens uses the technique of exageration on Scrooge's behaviour to show that everyone should be given a chance at redemption
Theme of poverty
Dickens' message about poverty is that society should treat the poor with more care and help them more.

Christianity theme
Dickens' was a Christian, as were many in the Victorian era. A big part of Christianity was to be kinder and share with the poor, so this is the main factor to his views on poverty.
christianity is a huge part of the novella as a good christian is someone who helps people that are in need.
The Cratchit family.
Bob, his wife, and six children: Martha, Belinda, Peter, 2 smaller children and Tiny Tim
Bob works for Scrooge, very harsh conditions (described as almost prison like)
Tiny Tim was a disabled child, who died at the end of the novel, but was grateful for what he had. His last words were 'God bless us, everyone'
The last words of the novel are Tiny Tim's. He says 'God bless us, Everyone!'

Fred is a vert joyful character, who always tries to convince Scrooge to be nicer and cheer him up
Fred is a foil character to scrooge and he holds the characteristics at the start of the play which scrooge gains at the end.
