Ranks system
Commissioned ranks
need to go to officer school and mainly for pilots. or officer roles such as police officers and officers of the Regiment. The disadvantage of this is that officer school is longer and more difficult as well as you have to commit 12 years to the RAF after completion of officer training.
Non Commissioned ranks
Ranks can be gained through promotions and don't require you to graduate from Officer School. The disadvantage of this is that you will earn less than actual officers and there's a max rank you can go to without going to officer school

The typical Royal Air Force Pilot salary is £57,000 per year.
Routine
Rota
RAF Personel work 5 days a week and have weekends and evenigs off but are expected to be ready to be called up on duty at all times
The disadvantage of this is that you are on duty constantly and if you are needed then you have to respond
In the RAF you can be put on short term or long term postings with short term postings lasting anywhere from a few days to a few months with long term postings lasting 2-3 years in nato countries and bases
The disadvantage of this is that it means you have to travel so if you want to stay closer to home its not capable of doing as you have to travel for basic and phase two training anyways
