Definition:

Purpose:

- Evaluating: To critically assess the quality, credibility, and relevance of the information and the speaker's message.

During a political speech, you assess the credibility of the speaker by researching their background. You examine the evidence provided for economic claims and find that it lacks concrete data. You evaluate the logic of their arguments and notice a logical fallacy. Considering the context of the speech, you recognise it's an election campaign. You also identify emotional appeals in the speech and acknowledge your own political bias.
When listening to a lecture on climate change, you identify the main idea as the urgent need for carbon emissions reduction. You extract key details like specific emission targets and paraphrase them for easy recall. Redundant information about historical climate events is eliminated, and the data is organised chronologically.
