Light
Definitions
Properties of light
-
It does not require medium to transfer and thus, can travel in vacuums (at speeds of 3 x 10^8 m/s)
It travels in straight lines within the same medium and when they arrive at a surface, there can be reflection, refraction or absorption of light.

Beams of light
Theis are a bundle of light rays, there are parallel, divergent and convergent beams of light.
-
Lenses
-
Types of lenses
Converging lense
parallel light ray are refracted inwards after passing through the lense and it is used a magnifying glass and to correct long sightedness
Diverging lense
parallel light ray are refracted outwards after passing through the lense, and is used to correct short sightedness
Features of lenses
principle axis
it is a horizontal line that passes through the optic centre c of the lens, the principle axis is perpendicular to the vertical plane of the lense
-
optical centre
it is the point midway between the kens surface and along the principal axis, and the light rays passing through c will not refract
focal point
it is the point in which all light rays perpendicular to the principle axis will pass through upon refraction from the lense
