An engaging problem or question makes learning more meaningful for students
Students should know about real world & apply knowledge to solve problem or answer questions
Sustained Inquiry
To inquire is to seek information or to investigate
Inquiry is iterative
Authenticity
Relating to "real word": real, genuine
Increasing students' motivation and learning
Involving authentic context, real-world processes, tasks, personal authenticity
Reflection
Reflection on the content knowledge and understanding gained helps students solidify
Reflection on the success skill helps students internalize what the skills mean and set a goal for further growth
Thoughout a project, students and teachers should reflect on what they're learniing
Public Product
Students can add greatly to PBL's motivating power & encourage high- quality
work
Product can be a tangible thing or a presentation of a situation
A certain degree of anxiety can be a healthy motivator -> student should well prepared to make their work public
Student voice and choice
Students can be able to choose which subject they want to carry out, method and questions
Students should be able to choose or control input, some aspects of the projects
Critique and Revision
Students should be taught how to give and receive constructive peer feedback that will improve project process and products
Feedbacks are given by teacher, outside adults, experts -> formative evaluation
