Mesopotamia

Ancient Egypt

Location: In the text it said that two great rivers the Tigris and Euphrates, flowed southward in the Middle West. On page 6 it said Mesopotamia "extended into parts of what is now Turkey, Syria southwestern Iran."(Steele 6) image

Religion: In the text it says, they believed in polytheism, the belief of many gods and goddesses, On page 14 it says, all towns believed in different gods. "the Babylonians worshiped Eriks as Ea, inna the goddess ishtar"That shows the many different gods and goddess they believe in. (Steele 14) image

Writing: On page 12 it says, people began to require records of ownership, business deals, and government. At first they used picture symbols to represent objects such as cattle, garin, or fish. (Steele 12) image

Location:In the text it says that, the NIle River was the main highway of Egypt. The text also says that, " For and example, one commander started off in a ship called Northern, and got promoted to the ship Rising ins memphis. (Hart 38) image

Architecture: In the text is says that Giza was built for the gods and goddesses. The text also says that "King Snefru the true pyramid with sloping slides developed." (Hart 20) image

Religion: On page 24 it said, " The Egyptians worshiped hundreds of different gods and goddesses, and sometimes it is difficult to work out who was who. Each of the 42 different administrative districts, (or "nomes") had its own god, and there were many besides (Hart 24) image

Government: In the text it said, the queen of Egypt could also be seen as a goddess. In the text it also said, "One pharaoh hold the record hold the record for the longest reign we know for monarchs." (Hart 10) image

writing: On page 34 it says, "Scribes had to be experts in writing Hieroglyphics, an elaborate form of picture-writing with about 700 different signs". For their writing they had different symbols and they drew pictures on it. (Hart 34) image

Art:"The egyptians enjoyed life to the fullest. Party scenes on tomb walls, songs of papyri, and musical instruments show us how people were entertained." Their art had fun things, they danced to the music and they made their instruments. (Hart 50) image

Art In the text it the Mesopotamians mastered many technologies and crafts at an early point in history. On page 28 it says, "Some time before 3500 BCE, they invented the potter's wheel, which made pottery production far more efficient." That shows one of the crafts at an early point in history. Architecture: In the text it said, some of Mesopotamia architecture includes Ziggurats and templates. On page 24 it says, "Temple platforms were being built at Eridu as early. image

Government There are many different governments. In the text it said, "Their empire brought stability to many lands" The author is talking about the Assyrians. On page 50, it talks about the Assyrians and how they are a ruthless, but caring empire. (Steele 50) image

Ancient China

Location: On page 40 it says Cities and towns were traditionally built on a grid they were divided into sections called wards. Each ward was surrounded by walls with gates they locked them every evening. In general rich people and government officials lived at the other side of the town or city away from the poor people.

Writing On page 11 it said the shang kings use oracle bones to talk with their ancestors. THe oracle bones were burny until they cracked. The questions were written on tortoise shells or ox bones. (Cotterell 11 image

Art: On page 56 it says after the scholars and the peasants farmers, artisans were the most important members of society. They produced tools for architecture weapons for the army they also had luxury items like tableware and fine silk cloth. Chinese rulers controlled the supply of raw materials they also ran government factories manned by skilled artisans who applied their crafts to different stages of the manufacturing processes.

Trade: On page 58 and 59 it saysAt the home in China the Mongols removed the usual restraints places upon merchants. They controlled the entire length of the silk road, a series of trade routes that ran from northern China across Asia. For most of their rule, Mongols ignored the opinions of Chinese officials.

ARchitecture/Technology: Architecture/ Technology: On page 22 it said that technology and inventions were carried along the silk road. Some inventions that were made was gunpowder and printing paper. The gunpowder changed the way battles were fought. Paper and printing helped a lot with communicating. image (Cotterell 22)

commerce: On page 58 it says Trade flourished under the mongol dynasty and they controlled the entire silk road. The silk road exported goods such as silk, spices, tea, porcelain and lacquerware. The trade routes ran from Northern China all the way across Asia. Cotterell (58) image

Government: on page 16 it says Chinese empire was formed. The Qin soldiers defeated the last of their enemies and went under their leader. Also in the text it said "the members you passed the top restrictions and went into palace and got accepted to be appointed as minister or get married and princesses

Religion: On page 26 and 27 it says There were disagreements over religion principles few people were persecuted for their beliefs. In the respect the Chinese empire was unique among civilizations. Against the backdrop of constant warfare, these two religions encouraged more peaceful ways.(Cotterell 26 and 27) image

Acient India

Government:In the text it said that the development of the castle system was an Aryan influence on modern-day India. A caste is a group of people that are social and they cannot change. The caste system started because the Aryans had four social classes that were called verna's.The Aryans were divided by their wealth and occupation. image

Architecture/Technology: On the website it said that the Indus valley people valued hygiene and sanitarium systems. They also had homes that transported waste water to the drains in the streets. The Indus valley people had impressive archiculture as well, one of which were wall that were used against floods and invaders. -( World Studies) image

Writing: From the text it says it is one of the most confusing aspects in ancient civilization. Some types of symbols are located in seals ceramic poles and other types of other materials. (World Studies) image

Location: In the text it said that the ancient civilization of the land live along the Indus river. It was a ideal place because the land was very fertile. This was because they tore in an alluvial plan that they used for agriculture. -(World Studies) image

Religion:In the text it said that the religion of the Aryans was Brahmanism. The Aryans lived in the Ganas, which was made up of several families. Each gana has its own territory that is ruled by a warrior chief or king. -(World Studies) image
