Location: Ancient egypt was along the Nile River. I know this because in the text, it says ¨ the Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River or beside canals extending from it.¨ In the text, it also says ¨ The ancient Egyptians lived on a stip of land on either side of the Nile, where the Nile flood made then land fertile.¨ Both of these pieces say that they lived along the Nile River. (Hart 8)
religion: The author wrote that the Egyptians worshiped many gods and goddesses, so many it was hard to work out who. On page 24, it says" Many of the gods are represented by animals: a baboon might stand for Thoth, a god of wisdom, at one temple, and a Moon god named Honshu at another". (Hart 24)
government: The government system of Ancient Egypt was a monarchy. I know this because in the text it said "The king was not only the most powerful and important man in Egypt-he was thought to be a god.
writing: The author wrote that the writing system in Ancient Egypt was hieroglyphics. I know this because in the text it said "Scribes had to be experts in writing hieroglyphs, an elaborate form of picture-writing with about 700 different signs. The text also said "Hieroglyphs were used on state monuments, templates, tombs, and religious papyri. (Hart 34)
architect:In Ancient Egypt people lived in brick homes. I know this because in the text it said "Houses in Ancient Egypt were built from bricks made from the Nile mud."
art:The art that was in Ancient Egypt was making jewelry. I know this because in the text, it says " You can see the glint of gold everywhere in Egyption jewelry- mines between the Nile and the Red Sea coast yielded large quantities of this precious metal." In the text, it also states " This bracelet, made for Prince Nazareth, has a central of design showing the god Horus as a child. (Hart 56)
Ancient China
Writing: On page 11 it said they used the oracle bones to talk with the spirits. Mainly ox bones or tortoise shells were used and scratched until it cracks. The cracks were then read to discover answers about the ancestors. (Cotterell)
Religion: Religion of the majority of ancient china was Confucianism. It says in the book that it is a religion that has people be kind and nice, and learn from their family. it ultimately ends up in a good way. (Page 50 Cotterell)
Art: The Chinese drew on oracle bones. The manufacture decorated items used hard techniques, and they were done by the masters of art. The merchants that sold their art, and all the things that people bought were well thought of. They made a lot of tools for people, and help keep the civilization alive. They also produced some cloth, and some items for the army. (page 58 Cotterell)
Government:The government of Ancient China is feudalism. It is a thing where a noble owns some land, and they have peasants working on it. It is a system of government that caused a lot of turmoil. (Page 22 Cotterell)
Architecture/technology:Some inventions of ancient china include silk, and other things that help people find out what has happened, and some other things that help people notice things like earthquakes. (Page 24 Cotterell)
Location: Chinese civilization was founded in East Asia. Starting with an Ancient Civilization, slowly expanding land. They lived along a river, which would be good for agriculture. It helps them farm crops and feed their families. They had supplies to build houses, and keep themselves safe from disasters. (page 56 Cotterell)
Trade/Commerce: The trade was ruled over the Yuan dynasty. It started with the Silk Road, a trade commencing to parts of Europe, and parts of the Middle East. The Yuan dynasty ruled over china 1279-1368 and permitted merchants to trade through their vast empire. It made a lot of money and made life easier. (page 60 Cotterell)
