Mesopotamia
Location: the author wrote that the ancient Greeks called the area Mesopotamia, which means "between the rivers" because it was located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Also the graphic shows that "most of ancient Mesopotamia lay between the borders of modern Iraq." (Steele 6)
In the text it says,"The homeland of the assyrian people was around the Tigris river, a long way north of babylon." Also in the text it says "Their city of ashur began to grow wealthy from trading with anatolia as early as 2000 BCE". (Steele 40)
Art: The text states, "Some time before 3500 BCE, they invented the potter's wheel, which made pottery production far more efficient. This proves that technology has improved over time. The author states "vessels were shaped by expert potters on the rotating wheel, then fired in dome-shaped kilns". This statement shows that art has grew in progress. (steele 28)
Religion:The author says " The Sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses". Also the text says "They believed that the stars traveling across the night sky were the cows of sin or Nanna, the horned moon god. (Steele 14
Writing: People back then who lived as hunters did not need written records. The author states that "as the first cities arose,people began to require records of ownership, business, deals, and government. (Steele 12)
Architecture: Architecture The author states that a ziggurat is"A massive terraced platform made of brick".In the text it says "The word ziggurats is Assyrian and means height or pinnacle ziggurats looked similar to the stepped pyramids of ancient egypt". (Steele 26)

Writing: The author said that it was deliberated kept complicated so that not many people could master it and scribes kept their special position. Also the text says for business, contracts, letters, and stones, scribes used a different form of writing called hieratic, which was a fast writing version of hieroglyphs.
