Mesoptamia

Architecture: In the text it says ZIggurats represented mountains stretching from the earth to heaven. Also the text states "Ziggurats looked similar to the stepped pyramids of ancient egypt." (Steele 24)
Writing: In the text it says, "The Sumerians devised the world's first script or writing system." The text also states that "Over the centuries the marks developed into a script that represented sound as well as meaning." (Steele 12)
Location: In the text it said that Mesopotamia once extended into parts of present day Turkey, Syria, and southwestern Iran. On page 6, it said that "most of ancient Mesopotamia lay within that borders of modern Iraq."(Steele 6)
Art: The text said, "They were modeling clay into simple pots by the eighth millennium." The text also said "Sometime before 3500 BCE, they invented the potters wheel." (Steele 28)
Religion: The text states "Mesopotamians loved poetry, art, and music." The text also said "Music was played on state occasions, or in temples for the glory of the gods." (Steele 26)

Ancient China
Location: On page 11 it said, the Shang kings used oracle bones to talk with their ancestors.The oracle bones were burnt until they cracked. The questions were written on tortoiseshells or ox bones. (Cotterall 11)
Architecture/Technology: On page 22 it states "Some of the worlds greatest inventions came from china." On page 22 it also say,"Throughout imperial history emperors encouraged the development of science and technology and for nations China ans other nations in these areas." (Cotteral 22)
Government:On page 16 the text states that, in 221 B.C. the Chinese Empire was formed. The Qin soilders defeated the last of their enemies and united the "warring states" under one leader, Zheng. The text also states that, the empire took its Soverign Qin Emperor, or Qin Shi Huandi (Cotteral 16)
Art: On page 56 the text states that, China has most of the time been renowned for its exquisite arts and crafts. The text also states that, Bronze, Jade, silk, Lacquer, and porcelain were all prized in Asia and Europe. (Cotteral 56)
Religion: On page 26 the text states that in imperial China there were 3 main religions. The 3 main religions were Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism. Though those are the main ones China is tolerant of all religions, although there are some disagreements on religious principals. (Cotteral 26)
Trade/Commerce: On page 58, Trade flourished under the mongol. The mongol emperors ruled china from 1279 to 1368 and permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their vast empire. The text also said, international trade thrived because caravans could travel with no design. (Cotteral 58)
Writing: On page 24 it says that< Paper and printing were most likely the most important inventions. The text also states, By the end of the tang dynasty bookshops were trading off in every city in China. (Cotteral 24)
