Architecture-
The people within the Indus Valley created well-planned cities. Specifically, the people during this time cared deeply about hygiene, and their cities resembled the importance of this idea. These early cities show remnants of the world's earliest sanitation system. With the cities, people could obtain water from wells. Also, within many homes, some rooms had facilities in which waste water was directed to cover drains and these lined the major streets. This was VERY advanced for the time. The advanced architecture and construction techniques of the Indus cities is also shown with impressive dockyards, granaries, warehouses, brick platforms, and protective walls. The walls were probably constructed to protect them as much from floods as from outside attackers. Famous Indus Valley cities include Mohenjo-Daro. This city was very well planned, with wide, straight streets and large buildings. Harappa (below) was also a major city during this time.
