Mesopotamia
Location: in the text it said that mesopotamia once extended into parts of present day Turkey, Syria and Southwestern Iran. On page 6 it said that "most of Ancient Mesopotamia lay within the modern borders of Iraq."(Steele 6)
Art: The Text said, " They were modeling clay into simple pots by the eighth millennium." The text also said "Sometime before 3500 BCE, they invented the potters wheel."

Writing: The text says, "The sumerians devised the world's first script or writing system." The text also states that, "Over the centuries the marks developed into a script that represented sound as well as meaning." (STEELE 12)
Government: The text said, The Assian Empire became wealthy because of trading with Anatolia. The text also said, "In 1120 BCE Tiglath Pileser I, founded an empire that reached the eastern Mediterranean." (STEELE 30)
Architecture: In the text it says Ziggurats represented mountains stretching from earth to heavens. Also the states, "Ziggurats looked similar to stepped pyramids of Ancient Egypt." (Steele 24)

Architecture/ Technology: On page 22 it states, "Some of the worlds greatest inventions came from China." On page 22 it also states, "Throughout imperial history emperors encouraged the development of science and technology, and for nations China and other nations in these areas." (Cotterell 22)
Writing: In the text it said that the shang kings used the oracle bones to talk to their ancestors Ox's bone or tortoise shell were burnt until they cracked. people read the cracks to discover answers about their ancestors. (Cotterell 11)
Trade/ Commerce: On page 58, Trade flourished under the mongol. The mongols emperors ruled China from 1279 to 1368 and permitted merchants to trade freely throughout their vast empire. The text also said, international trade thrived because caravans could travel with no design. (Cotterell 58)
Religion: In the text it says, "Confucius believed that the early years of the Zhou dynasty were golden years of social harmony." On page 26 it says, "In imperial China, religious beliefs were divided into the "three ways of Confucius, Daoism, and Buddhism."
