Mesopotamia
Location: On page 6 the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers flowed southward through the Middle East. Also the author wrote "much of the region is now hot desert, but many areas were much more fertile in antiquity," (Steele 6)
Writing: On page 12 it says "The sumerians devised the world's. first script or writing system". The book also stated that they used the writings to represent cattle, grain, and fish. In conclusion the writing helped the Sumerians keep records of their stuff. (Steele 12)
Art: they molded clay into shapes to make a design. They put jewels in gold to make a necklace(steele 28)
Government In the text it says, they were ruled by a king that represented the gods. The text also said, the land was ruled by the king and everything you did he knew about.
Religion:The Ancient Egyptians were polytheistic (believing in more than one God) and are thought to have had thousands of gods and goddesses. They dictated how people lived their lives, how they treated other people, how they farmed and worked, and all their beliefs about the afterlife

Ancient Egypt
Location: Ancient Egypt was located in Northeastern Africa and had four clear geographic zones: the Delta, the Western Desert, the Eastern Desert, and the Nile Valley. Each of these zones had its own natural environment and its own role within the Egyptian State.
Art: It includes paintings, sculptures, drawings on papyrus, faience, jewelry, ivories, architecture, and other art media. It was a conservative tradition whose style changed very little over time. Much of the surviving examples comes from tombs and monuments, giving insight into the ancient Egyptian afterlife beliefs
Writing: In Ancient egypt they wrote in hieroglyphs which is pictures used for words and there are over 700 different signs for words.(Hart 34)

Commerce:Merchants carried silk from China to Europe, where it dressed royalty and wealthy patrons. Some other favorite commodities from Asia included jade and other precious stones, porcelain, tea, and spices. In exchange, horses, glassware, textiles, and manufactured goods traveled eastward.
