Ancient Civilization
Mesopotamia
Location
Location: I know because the religion didn't originally have a name, but the ancient greeks called it "Mesopotamia", which means land between the rivers. Also, an example is that "Two great rivers flowed southward through the middle east," which were called the tigris and euphrates rivers. (Steele 6)
Writing
Writing: On page 12-13 the text says that, "The sumerians devised the world's first script." I know this because, because also on page 12-13 they said that they would use picture symbols to represent objects like cattle, grain or even fish.
Art
Art: on page 28 it says that textile production another area of technological progress. The author also says women wove cloth from wool then linen and from the eighth century BCE cotton. (Steele 28)
Religion
Religion: On page 14-15 it said that the Sumerians worshipped many gods and goddesses meaning that they were polytheistic. Also the text said, "They believed that the stars traveling across the night sky were the cows of Sin or Nanna, the horned Moon god. Enki, the gd of water and wisdom, was though to live in an underground ocean called Apsu. Enlil was the father of the other gods. Ninhursag, Nintu, and nammu were all fertility goddesses, and Inanna was the goddess of love and war." (Steele 24-25)
Architecture: I know this because, on page 24 the author states that, "A lasting symbol of ancient Mesopotamia is the Ziggurat, a massive terraced platform made of brick." On page 24 the author also states that " Ziggurats looked similar to the stepped pyramids of ancient egypt, which were used as royal tombs, but they served a different purpose.
Ancient Egypt
Location
Location: On pages 8-9 the author states in the text that " The Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River or beside canals extending from it." I know this because The text was saying where the ancient Egyptians thrived and lived on the Banks of the Nile River (Hart 8-9)
Writing: On page 34-35 the author says that they used Hieroglyphics for many uses back in the Ancient Egyptians age. I know this because, on page 35 the author states that " Hieroglyphics were used on state monuments, temples, tombs, and religious papyri." (Hart 35-36)
Government: In the text it says, "The king was not only the most powerful and important man in Egypt he was thought to be a god" Another Example is "The queen of Egypt could also be seen as a goddess the great royal wife." (Hart 10)
Art: in the text it says "From mines in the Sinai peninsula came light blue turquoise and rich blue lapis lazuli to Egypt." also an example is "Jewelers had no knowledge of stones like diamonds, Emeralds, or rubie" Another example is "You can see the glint of gold everywhere in egyptian Jewlery." (Hart 56)
Religion
Religion: On page 24 it said that the Egyptians believed in many gods and goddesses but had difficulties figuring out who was who sometimes. I know this because, on page 24 the author states that " Overall the sun god was the dominant deity in Egyptian Religion, although he could take different forms."

Architecture
Architecture: I know this because, on pages 20-21 the author states that "The First pyramid was built as the burial place of king Djoser in c. 2650 BCE, by his gifted Architect Imhotep," On pages 20-21 the author also states that " It was supposed to represent a gigantic stairway for the king to climb to join the sun god in the sky. (Hart 20-21)
Ancient China:
Trade/Commerce:I know this because on page 58 it says the silk road was under the mongols/Yuan dynasty. In the text it says that they traded luxury goods such as silk, spices, teas, porcelain, and lacquerware.It says in the text that marco polo was an explorer and he followed the silk road. (Cotterell 58)
Government: The government of ancient china is feudalism. It is a thing where a noble owns some land and they have peasants working on it. It is a system of government that caused a lot of turmoil
Art: I know this because on page 56 the text says China has always been renowned for its exquisite arts and crafts. I know this because also on page 56 the text says In imperial China Luxury goods formed the major export commodities, Chinese bronze, jade, silk, lacquer, and porcelain were prized in Asia and Europe. After the scholars and the peasant farmers, artisans were considered the most important members of society (Cottrell 56) .
Writing: I know because the Shang kings used oracle bones to help with important events.The cracks were the answers to questions about their ancestors. Most of the bones were tortoiseshells or ox bones. (Cotterell: Pg 11)
Location: I know this because on page 42 it says in most Chinese homes, three generations of the same family lived under one roof. Family's followed strict codes of conduct, which were reflected in the layout of their homes. I know this because A traditional home was divided into different sections by courtyards. I know this because on page 56 The main gate led into an outer courtyard in which traders were received (Contrell 42)
Architecture/Technology: The inventions of ancient china include silk, and some other things that help people find out what has happened, and some other things that help people notice things like earthquakes. (Cotrellel)
Religion: I know this because on page 26 the chinese emperor was unique upon all the civilizations.I know this because on page 26 the text says In imperial china religious beliefs were divided into the three ways of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism.I know this because also on page 26 the text says Buddhism became china's most popular belief. (Cotterell 26)
