How quickly can you boost cardiovascular health?
What does cardiovascular health refer to in humans?
Uncontrollable factor (heart disease, asthma)
What does cardiovascular health refer to heart diseases and asthma
Cardiovascular health primarily refers to the health of the cardiovascular system which includes the heart and bloof vessels. In humans, it focuses on conditions and diseases which affect these organs (heart and blood vessels) such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and asthma.
Understanding the body system
How does the level of cardiovascular health help us understand the health of a person's body system.
Cardiovascular health is a key indicator of an individual's overall health due to the cardiovascular system playing a vital role in supplying oxygen and nutrients to all the organs throughout the body. Cardiovascular health can help us understand the body system, Blood pressure is closely related to blood pressure, a high blood pressure is a common risk factor for many health problems such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease etc. Monitoring blood pressure levels
What could we measure to monitor our cardiovascular (CV) health?
BMI
The body mass index is a mesure of a person's body weight in relation to their hieght, BMI is a measurement which is useful tio assessing a person's potential health risks associated with weight. Although cardiovascular health does not provide a direct measure to cardiovascular health, it does indicate people who are in risk of cardiovascular disease due to obesity.
Heart Rate
Heart rate is related to chardiovascular health as it provides valuable information about how the cardiovascular system (especially the heart) is functioning. Monitoring heart rate can display a person's cardiovascular health with their resting heart rate, a lower resting heart rate implies a fitter and healther person.
Blood Preasure
Blood pressure is closely related to cardiovascular health because is shows the force exerted by the blood in the arteries as tghe heart pumps it throughout the body. Maintaining a healthy blood pressure is crucial for overall cardiovascular health. A high blood pressure can indicate the possibility of a heart disease and stroke wehich are also a result in poor cardiovascular health.
Weight
Weight relates to cardiovascular health due to the effects of obesity, Excess body weight (excess fat/obesity) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and risks including hypertension (high blood pressure), infllammation and diabetes.
What are the effects on the body of poor CV Health?
Stroke
A stroke occurs when there is a disruption of blood flow between the heart and a part of the brain, strokes lead to the damaging of brain cells. Strokes have serious and life-threatening outcomes. Strokes claim 4.9% of all deaths and 20% of cardiovascular deaths from 8500 deaths.
High blood pressure
High blood pressure is a significant and common cardiovascular health condition which is symptomized by elevated levels of pressure in the arteries that carry blood from the heart throughout the body. A normal mraesurement of blood pressure is considered to be around 120/80mm Hg in adults/
Weight gain
Weight can have a significant impact on the cardiovascular health of a person especially when linked with ovesity. Weight gain leads to an increased risk of hypertension, heart failure as well as a sedentary lyfestyle which is a factore for poor cardiiovascular health due to the alck of physcial activity it reduces cardiovascular fitness as well as increases tghe risk of heart disease.
Angina
An angina is a medical condition related to cardiovascular health, it is represented by a chest pain and/or discomfort that occurs when the heart does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood.
What are some of the ways we can "boost" our CV health?
No alchohol/tobacco
The consumption of alcohol and tobacco can have a horrible impact on cardiovascular health due to the possibility of developing high blood pressure, heart muscle disorders, irregular heart rhythms and strokes. Not consuming alcohol/tobacco will reduce the strain on the heart from high blood pressure.
Exercise
A constant amount of vigorous exercise throughout a long period of time (5 - infinity days) can greatly improve the heart's ability to pump oxygen rich blood throughout the body. This type of exercise will also result in an improve in blood flow, lower cholesterol and a decrease in the risk of heart disease.
Diet
Diet is an importnat facotor when it comes to cardiovascular endurance. An uncontrolled amount of unhealthy food might result in risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. Having a diet with high fibre, low saturated fat with a high plant food diet can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases quite heavily.
Medetation
Meditation is important to psychologically improve a person's cardiovascular health. Meditation can help lower heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, and adrenaline levels. Meditating releases a hormone that responds to stress, therefore reducing a person's blood pressure and therefore the stress on the cardiovascular system.
How long does it take for a human to respond to measures used to improve CV Health?
Change of heart rate after 1 week
Change of heart rate after 1 month
Change of heart rate after 5 months
