My Self
Family
-
Atheist: No-one in my whole family is religious, including my grandparents.
Football: I grew up watching the Washington Commanders (Commies, for short) and love the sport. I wouldn't want to play it, though. I played lacrosse instead.
:
Only Child: I am an only child, so I had way more alone time than other people. That has made me more introspective and less social.
Family Holidays: We have family gatherings many times a year on mostly holidays. This has made me see family as an important positive part in my life.
-
-
Mom: My mother is intelligent and more introverted. She has helped me become more careful about making decisions and plan important events.
Education
Economics Major: I grew interested in the subject after I took a class on it in high school. The classes have helped me gain a more analytical view of the world. :
Reading Hobby: In elementary school, I picked up an interesting book off the library shelf. I then ended up reading that whole series at the time. I still read to this day.
Interest in tech: In sixth grade (middle school), everyone was given Chromebooks. Even then we were trying to find ways to skirt the web blockers and play games on them. I created a script that allowed Chrome to open .swf files through html files after the schools banned this format from being opened directly.
-
Creative Writing: Being creative in this class and reading stories that other people wrote helped remind me that positivity and fun still have a place in this world.
Belief in Equality: I have formed more left-leaning beliefs since coming to college and learning more about important social issues. I was already left-leaning before, but now I have stronger beliefs.
Technology
Android: As weird as this sounds, I was given an Android tablet as my first real 'personal computer'. Messing with the OS led me to be proficient at using computers and viewing myself as a bit geekish.
AI: The advent of 'artificial intelligence' and LLMs made me scared for a little while (if they were used for propaganda), but now I see them as a world-changing technology that will hopefully make it easier to work. It changed me by making me more optimistic of the future.
The Sims: I play the Sims a lot and if a fireplace is burning, then it somehow causes fires every 2 minutes. This has made me view my life as fragile.
-
Social Media
Hobbies: One of my hobbies is collecting old video game consoles. I watched a YouTuber who used a lot of profane language, but I grew interested in the history of gaming and appreciate the past. I might also be a nerd.
Living in Chesterfield, VA: I lived with mild weather my whole life, so it is nice not having to constantly worry about national disasters. I also lived in the suburbs, so there always new to explore and many things to do. However, I never had a real sense of community because of how many people live there.
-
Employment: Before working, I would have considered myself a bit anti-social and generally being uncomfortable. After dealing with people for 3 years, I have learned to be more outgoing and social. Now I would consider myself more extroverted.
Soldering: Over the summer, I learned how to solder components and fix electronics. This made me see myself as more capable.
Playing Sports: For much of my life, I played lacrosse. It made me appreciate hard work and teamwork.
Healthy: I have been fortunate enough to be healthy most of my life, so I haven't experienced the hardships of illness. I think this makes me more emotionally vulnerable because I'm not prepared.
