What Impact Does Music Have On Emotions
Ethics
Informed consent: Participants must give informed consent to participate in the study since it is unethical to experiment on people without their permission and a violation of their privacy. Participants must understand the activity in which they are taking part; a simple "yes" won't do.
Voluntary Participation: Participants in the experiment must be given the option to take part voluntarily and may not be forced to do so in any way.
Right to Withdraw: Once the experiment has started, participants are free to stop it at any time without having to give a reason.
Confidentiality: Participants will feel more at ease disclosing information and expressing themselves in a safe setting if confidentiality is maintained.
Reporting Accurate Results: It is essential that the experiment reports accurate results and not make them up.
Debrief: communicating the entirety of the experiment and defining the specifics in order for the participant knows exactly what they are taking part in.
Sample Size
A sample size is the amount of people being tested. When looking at sample sizes the larger they are the more accurate and reliable the result are this is because when more people are tested you receive more results and are able to cancel out opportunities for bais results to occur.
Ideal sample size: When conducting an investigation there are usually some limitations to the sample sizes available. For this investigation, the ideal population would include all year 11 students is South Australia with a sample size of 200 randomly selected students with a variety of education levels, cultural backgrounds and a split number of genders. This is ideal because it enables a balanced result that takes all people into consideration.
Real Sample Size: Due to these restrictions the real sample size is all year 11 Glenunga psychology students present on the day of the experiment. Despite this not being the ideal sample size it is large enough to provide an accurate representation of the impact hat music has on the emotions of year 11 students from a similar area and similar education level.

Independent
This is the variable that is manipulated by the investigator and not by other variables
Dependent
Is the variable that is manipulated as a result of the independent variable
Extraneous
This is a variable aside from the independent variable that could affect the dependent variable or the controlled conditions
Controlled
is the variable that remains constant throughout the entire experiment
Design Type
Experimental
Experimental: is a style of design that involves a procedure process that is used to define the hypothesis
Quantitative
Quantitative: Is a form of data that can be measured, there are many different types of quantitative data this includes, including Experimental, Survey and correlational research. Examples of qualitative data are height or how many people walk through a particular area between certain times in the day.
Qualitative
Qualitative : In qualitative research, non-numerical data are gathered and assessed in order to comprehend concepts or personal opinions. There are a few types of qualitative data these consist of, observational, focus groups and case studies. An example of this is an interview or observing peoples habits.
Observational
