Energy conversion
The process
Though energy can't be created nor destroyed, one type of energy can be converted by ways such as motion
-
Energy usage, dissipation and waste
Useful energy
Useful energy is energy which can be benefited from as it is the main purpose for the energy conversion that had the intended usage for
Examples
Efficient electronic devices convert electrical energy into only the necessary forms such as light energy for display and sound energy for audio.
Wasted energy
Sometimes when energy is used for a purpose, the conversion also converts one energy into another kind that isn't useful and thus is wasted
Examples
When electrical energy is converted into light energy, it also releases thermal energy which isn't useful
When a fan is turned on, electrical energy is converted into kinetic energy to propel air but also sound energy which isn't useful
Description
The ability to use power to perform any action. Different kinds of energies can be stored or transferred depending on their respective properties. It's measured in joules.
