1967 Referendum
-
-
The three issues suffered by the aboriginal people in the 1960's were discrimination, children being taken away from their families, and having to live in poverty.
Children were being taken away from their families because someone in their family was also either non white or European.
They had to live in poverty because no one would treat them like they should be treated because of the colour of their skin of being European.
A referendum is when a statement to be put into the law or to change the law. If a statement is to be changed or put into the law book than most of the men and women had to either approve or not approve. (Say yes or no)
Back in 1967 the Aboriginal people still weren't allowed to vote.( The 1967 referendum was about aboriginal rights)
