1967 Referendum
Why did it Happen?
This referendum happened because alot of people were protesting for Indigenous rights and there were tens of thousands of people who were fighting for their rights so they would be equal.
What Happened?
In the 1967 Referendum people voted to make a very significant change in the Australian Constitution. This change gave Indigenous people the right to vote in federal elections and to improve the services available to the Indigenous people.

Jack Patten
Jack Patten was a significant person in Indigenous Civil rights by encouraging many people to fight for Indigenous civil rights. Jack Patten's aim for Indigenous civil rights was to encourage people to fight for their civil rights by spreading the word about a poorly they were being treated every Sunday at the domain. He also did many speeches which convinced many people to fight for their civil rights.

Mary Lee was one of the leaders of one of the groups of women who were fighting for their rights. She aso ran many parades and marches where they protested to fight for their rights.

Vida Goldstien was a key person for the Suffragette Movement because she was the main leader of The Suffragette Movement. She also ran a newspaper where she spread the word about fighting for womens rights.She also traveled to America to speak in the Internationale Womens Suffrage Conference.
