Reptiles - Coggle Diagram

- - - - We can identify whether an animal can be defined as a reptiles by simply looking at the characteristics of the animal.
      - Characteristics of a reptile include:
        vertebrates, body covered in scales, cold-blooded, lay eggs, breathe using their lungs.
      - Activity: Name the characteristics of a specific type of reptile. Learners must guess what reptile it is according to the characteristics that were mentioned.
    - - Reptiles come in different shapes and sizes. The largest reptile on earth is the Saltwater crocodile. The smallest reptile on earth is the Brookesia Nana Chameleon (Čirjak, 2019).
      - Activity: Learners will be given different types of reptile toys to hold and look at. They must then divide each reptile toy into one of two groups, namely big and small.
      - Most colorful reptiles include:
        Mount Hanang Chameleon, Blue Malaysian Coral Snake, Hieroglyphic River Cooter Turtle.
- - - - Reptiles are an extremely diverse class of vertebrates.
      - Families: 82
        Genera: 1131
        Species: 9546 (Donoso et al., 2013)
      - Activity: Learners must go outside each with a paper or book that contains every species of reptiles with pictures. They need to search for reptiles outside. Once they have found one they must search in their book and identify what species the reptile is.
    - - Stage 1: Egg
        Stage 2: Hatchling
        Stage 3: Juvenile crocodile
        Stage 4: Adult Crocodile
      - Activity: Learners look at a picture that represents one of the stages in the life cycle of a crocodile. They then have to guess what stage of the life cycle is visible in the picture.
      - There are 4 stages in the life cycle of a crocodile.
