        Drawings on page 120 show different scenarios of Junior pretending to be not poor. For example, when someone asks Junior if he has lunch money, Junior will reply with "I'm not hungry anyway".
- - - - People treated Junior like trash but Junior still remained positive. This shows that Junior looks weak outside but he's tough inside.

I felt like Roger had kicked me in the face. That was the most racist thing I'd ever heard in my life.

        Penelope is Junior's love interest throughout the book, and continues to show us that Junior is deeply love with her. And after Junior tells Penelope that he is in fact poor, instead of leaving him forever, she gives him a kiss.
