Concept 1 : Reptiles can contain germs that make people sick. Salmonella is the most frequent germ found in reptiles. Salmonella bacteria are frequently found in the digestive systems of reptiles. Even healthy reptiles can carry the bacterium.

Concept 2: Salmonella bacteria can make people sick if they come into touch with reptiles, amphibians, or their habitats, including water from their tanks or aquariums.
