        Theory: If my students see each other as a team, the classroom will be an efficient and safe space.

        Ask what rules pertain to what students are doing. (Ex. what are we expected to do during independent reading time)
        Ask students to repeat rules
        
        Morning affirmations help set up students for success. It gives them the ability to believe in themselves and gives them confidence to try.
        
        Repeat rules and expectations. This can include classroom rules/ expectations repeated throughout the year (example: teacher showed picture of student's desk area when they left for the day. They were messy so she asked them what was wrong in the picture and what they needed to fix). This also includes repeating directions of classwork or homework for student understanding.
        
        Morning discussion: Students come together on the rug by the whiteboard to discuss what day it is (Thursday September 28, 2023. It was gloomy and cold today.). Morning phonics review lesson to kick start the day.
      - Different areas around the classroom call for different things: sensory area, big rug for group discussion, multiple seating arrangements for individual work time, reading area.
      - Shelving helps students have their own individual shelf to turn in work.

      - Arrangement of student seating sets students up for success. Desks arranged in groups allows students to work as a team but also allows them to learn spacial awareness and how to work individually.
- - - - Backward Design: Define the result wanting to be met then the educator can derive a lesson that focuses on reaching that result. This helps narrow down what needs to be taught and what is not of importance to include. It also focuses on the student to determine the best teaching method.
      - Universal Design Learning: Addresses the diversity of learning within the classroom to better engage and reach all students' learning needs. Multiple means of engagement, representation, and action/ expression are included in UDL.

        Theory:
        
        My teacher showed me an excel sheet that is in place of a "lesson plan". Her and another teacher worked together to create it. It provides standards, objectives, what the students will be working on that week, worksheets, projects, books to read, etc.
        
        Provide a multitude of lessons, activities, books, etc. that reach all learning levels.
        Provide options!
        
        Provide detailed explanations of what is expected of student/ ask students what is expected of them.
        
        Reflection time provides time for students to personally look into their work and decipher what works best for them.
      - Teaching lessons that are hands on or seem more like an activity/ game will draw students in. They will be learning without knowing it.
      - I want to include a lot of group discussions that allow students to share their ideas with their peers. But I also want to work on individual activities where my attention is focused on one student at a time, so each student feels important.
        Balance is key!
      - Provide technology time: This allows students to work at their own pace and learn without feeling held back or forced forward.
