Different insects
Insects come in all shapes and sizes, with different functions, it is important to analyze and explain the function of each type of insect such as ants, bees, grasshoppers etc. (Wiggelsworth,2023)
class activity: learners will help me identify different insects outside and we will then go inside and test how temperature affects different insects. we will use a bug net to capture and insect and test the temperature after putting said bug in a refrigerator.
Temperature greatly affects different type of insects, it all depends on the environment they are in, insects do not maintain a constant body temperature (Publications International LTD, 2021) therefore it is important to educate learners on this,

Various objects and contraption can be used to collect insects, such as nets, pitfalls or by simply using your hands (Epsky & Morrill & Mankin, 2008)
Class activity: learners will make a insect trap out of a old coke or plastic bottle, honey and clean wrap.

Insects help maintain healthy soil, they pollinate flowers and they help with crop production (WWF,2023)
overall they are beneficial to our ecosystem
Various insects help us such as bees, butterflies, dragon flies and grass hopers. It is important to learn how they help us. for example bees help with crop reproduction by pollinating plants (UN Environment Programme,2008)

Some insects such as mosquito and bed bugs carry diseases which can also be extremely harmful to us. Mosquitoes can carry the disease Malaria
Class Activity: Capture a bee and dissect it to find out what parts sting us as well as read a book on Bees
