Screening Procedure 1.Give the client a warm greeting
- Attempt to break the ice by asking how their day was and talk about their interest without moving away from the main objective
- Ask about the clients medical history and if have current medical conditions and if they are on any prescribed medication ( part of the PAR-Q)
- Get into more detail by performing a physical examination such as a hearing, vision and a vital signs assesment
- Obain important information such as the weight, height , body fat percentage and the resting heart rate of the client
- Go into detail about the clients goals so you can prepare a training plan. Get the client mentally prepared to work on achieving their goals and have a set target after a specific time with your client to track progress
- After the risk assesment determine whether or not you can train the client immediately. If you cant let them know that theyll need a doctors approval.
- Sign all necessary indeminty and liability forms that protects you and your client from any issues in the future.
Pre-Screening Procedure
- Get the clients contact information
- Secure a location for the screening
- Inform the client about the time and place of the meeting
- Get tables chair , indemnity forms, PAR- Q, Lifestyle questionnaire , Waiver of liability, assumption of risk and conformed consent agreement ready for the screening
SCREENING TOOLS
Stadiometer- to measure height measuring tape- to measure the waist Heart Rate Monitor- to track the resting heart and pulse rate Calipers- to obtain skinfold measurements PAR-Q- To gain an understanding of the clients general health Scale- to measure how much the client weighs
Location- the client should know where to meet you and should have a secure location to conduct the screening
Laptop- to take down any notes
Table- so you can get work done effectively
Chair- to sit down and create a comfortable setting
Risk Classification Process
Risk classification is achieved through defining the risk assessment criteria. The PAR-Q is the criteria used to identify the risks before training the clients.
Clients are put into categories of low, medium and High risk. If the client is low risk you can train them immediately. If they are medium and high risk then thery need a doctors approval before you can train them.
