Social Science
Subtopic 1: Types of insects
Class activity: using playdough, each learner can make a type of insect of their choice
Concept 1: there are many different types of insects, all with different characteristics
Subtopic 2: How insects interact with each other
Class activity: have a 6 legged race with the class, just like insects have 6 legs. Children need to work in teams to get to the other side, like insects work in teams.
Concept 1: insects live together in groups and they work together to find food and survive
Technology

Class Activity: have a nest building competition. Provide learners
with different materials to build with, such as leaves,
sticks and paper.
Subtopic 2: How insects defend themselves from harm
Concept 1: some insects like bees, wasps and hornets have stings to defend themselves against predators
Class activity: discuss why you think insects sting and then create a poster of what you can do to protect insects from harm
