Malnutrition
- where one of more nutrients are not supplied to the body in correct amounts
Over nutrition (surplus of nutrients)
Obesity
caloric intake > calories burned

Caused by lack of activity, over consumption of food
Location and finance can impact obesity levels
Creates more work for the heart, fatigue quicker
Increases risk of diabetes (2), respiratory disease and other diseases like CVD
Dental caries
Caused by poor dental practices, high sugar diet
Tooth decay
Causes bad breath, toothaches, tooth loss, difficulty chewing
Hypertension
High blood pressure
Excess sodium
Blood circulation is less efficient
Leads to heart failure, stroke, kidney disease
Type 2 diabetes
Causes include family history, obesity, poor diet/lifestyle, being over 55
Symptoms include thirst, increased urination, fatigue, blurred vision and mental health issues over time
CVD
Hardening of the arteries, caused by a collection of fat (cholesterol) along artery walls, restricting blood flow to the heart
Risk of heart attack (less oxygen to heart) or stroke (blockage to brain)
Under nutrition (lacking nutrients)
Anorexia
Extreme self-induced weight loss through restricted diet and increased exercise
Caused by peer pressure, media influence, low self-esteem, mental health issues
Psychological disorder
Effects include low body weight, loss of period, anemia, fainting, low blood pressure, nutrients deficiency, muscle wastage
Bulimia
Psychological disorder
Binge eating then self-induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives or excessive exercise
Caused by peer pressure, media influence, low self esteem, mental health issues
Side effects from vomiting include tooth decay, burns in throat and mouth from stomach acid, nutrient deficiency
Anaemia
Insufficient iron in diet
Extreme fatigue, fainting, pale skin, headache
Caused by lack of iron or B12 in diet, some medications, losing blood, being vegan/vegetarian
Osteoporosis
Long term low calcium
Caused by low physical activity, menopause, poor bone structure
Leads to weakened bones (easily break), bad posture and reduction of bone mass
