Judging the division between the Churches as a result of the "sinners that we are" (Unitatis Redintegratio) i.e. faults on both sides.
The Church sees its primary concern with the protestants to be one guided by a desire for greater unity stating that "The restoration of unity among all Christians is one of the principal concerns of the Second Vatican Council" (Unitatis Redintegratio)
