A type of arthropod has a hard external skeleton, a segmented body and 3 pairs of legs/1 to 2 sets of wings (Britton, 2020).

Insects reproduce offspring by laying eggs: Eggs that are produced by the female are fertilised by the male.

Insects can be found in almost every habitat on the planet. They are commonly found in terrestrial and freshwater environments (Ramel, 2022).
