Types of insects
Jumping insects -e.g. Grasshoppers - Although they have wings, they use their hindlegs to jump around. They can jump a distance of 1 metre. (Study.com, 2023)
Class Activity - Nature walk in school. Children can carry along magnifying glass, checklist with pictures of insects and a pen. They will tick off all the insects they are able to spot.
Flying insects - e.g. fireflies - They are a type of beetle and have a flashing light in their abdomen. It is known as being bioluminescent. (Study.com, 2023)
Crawling insects - e.g. Ants - They have powerful antennae which senses changes in air pressure, odours, vibrations and move. (Study.com, 2023)
Physical features
