Who do you think works in aviation?
STEM
Individuals strong in STEM subjects would make up a large portion of the aviation sector because of the engineering, physics, and heavy use of technology.
Pilot and First Officer
Engineer (aeronautical, aerospace)
Technician
Mechanic
Aircraft design
Geography
Weather plays a large role in flight planning and safety as pilots should ideally avoid areas of high turbulence such as storms.
Meteorologists - can predict future weather by analysing data and advise ATC and pilots to avoid rough patches, for example.
Safety and Security
Risk management
Firefighters - at fire stations at each airport constantly on standby. They need to be physically fit.
Airport security - needs constant vigilance
Police
Finance
Manages expenses at aircraft manufacturers, airports, and airlines. They can weigh the risks in expenditures to see if it would be beneficial from an economic standpoint.
Customer service
Ability to interact with people
Flight attendants
Flight attendants also require many other skills such as leadership in emergency situations, food prep and managing parts of the cabin such as doors. Not to mention incredible patience with difficult passengers.
Ground operations - requires responsibility and sound judgement while working around large aircraft which could be dangerous if not careful
Aircraft marshals
Baggage handlers
Fuel truck operator
