Acute Trauma to the female genitals
Ruptured ovarian cysts, Ectopic pregnancy
Risk Factors
Smoking
Infertility treatment
tubal ligation
history of being pregnant
Signs and Symptoms
may present as pain free
abdominal pain
vaginal bleeding
nausea or vomiting
abdominal tenderness
amenorrhea
weakness
syncopy
orthostatic hypotension
Injuries to the kidneys
Incedence and epidemiology
Rare, 3% of all ER visits
In one ER retrospective study, only 18% or 59 of 320 patients had sports-related kidney trauma. Of the 59 only 1.77 patients underwent a nephrectomy
Risk Factors
Collision sports & falling on unyielding objects
Signs/Symptoms
Anatomical attachment to the diagram makes breathing painful
Nerve intervention makes the pain excruciating
Dyspnea, Tachycardia, hypotension
Delayed hematuria
In minor damage, may report blood in the urine without known impact on the kidney AKA:
Idiopathic (sport) Hematuria
Following strenuous practice that is high intensity and long-duration
Dehydration
Over use of NSAIDs
Hypoxic kidney damage
Increased circulation rate
Myoglobinuria release
Acute Trauma to the male genitals
Incidence and epidemiology
Football Soccer, Wrestling
Contusion
Swollen, sometimes to capacity
Highschool age groups
Warm weather, indoor sports
Without a protective cup
Signs and symptoms
extreme pain
Nausea
vomiting
Hyperventilation
Torsion
Transverse lying of the testicle, presenting higher than is normal of the individual
Ischemia
cardiac output
Hypotension
Shock
Necrosis
Hypertension
Electrical conduction systems of the heart
Sinus Rhythm
Arrhythmia
Sinus Bradycardia
Ventricular tachycardia
Ventricular fibrillation
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
