代名詞與先行詞單複數需一致
If the campaign succeeds in raising huge sums, the sponsors will devote it all to disaster relief.
正確應為：將it改為them，或將huge sums改為a huge sum
代名詞性別考量
遇到如teacher等中性名詞時，如後續仍然提及，則可以：
- 用he代替，但不尊重女權
- 用he or she代替，但文章較為繁瑣
- 用she代替
代名詞必須有一個先行詞
[ex] Although the new regulations allow then to do it, high school graduates seldom go abroad for higher education.
it代提之先行詞為''go abroad for higher education，但此為動詞go之述部，非名詞片語，用副詞so表示「這樣做」較恰當
代名詞只能有一個先行詞
[ex] When tourists first arrived in this new resort, the locals thought they were very lucky people.
上文中的''they''可能為''tourists''或為''locals''，語意不清
若為tourists，則可將''they''改寫為''the outsiders''
若為''the locals''，則可將後半句改寫為''the locals considered themselves very lucky people.
反身代名詞/副詞

表示強調，且反身代名詞不一定主詞相同
[ex] I'll have to do this myself.
myself=by myself，表示由我自己
[ex] I didn't like the wine itself.
itself=in itself，表示酒本身
