TYPE OF MOTIVATION

INTRINSIC

Intrinsic motivation has more positive outcomes than extrinsic

When people pursue activities for their intrinsic, they are especially like to become and remain fascinated and absorbed by them and feel happy

Self-determined motivation, internal rewards; enjoyment, satisfaction, and fulfillment

EXTRINSIC

Motivated due to reward or incentive

At times extrinsic reward can diminish achievement motivation

Example; you have a job

You work hard, meet the deadline and perform well at work

Receive paycheck at the end of the month

Financial reward as extrinsic motivation

Example; you love playing a guitar.

You practice regularly, not because being forced or expecting a reward

Genuinely enjoy the process of playing and feel a sense of accomplishment when you improve.

The joy and satisfaction of playing the guitar are your intrinsic motivations.
