BASIC UNIT OF A COMPUTER
INPUT UNIT
- consist of hardware used to enter data
- "RECEIVING" section of computer
- obtains data from input devices
SYSTEM UNIT

MEMORY (RAM)
- store instructions waiting to be executed & data needed
- retains info that already been processed
- Often called RAM
OUTPUT UNIT
- convey information to one/more user
- 'SHIPPING' section computer
- put processed data/info on various output devices
- makes info available outside the computer
STORAGE UNIT

- computer hardware that records item to and from storage media
COMMUNICATION UNIT
- enables comp to send and receive data, instructions and information
