        Are there support groups to support Ava? will Ava want to attend? would individual counselling be more effective?would an advocate help support Ava? it is important the social worker works collaborativley with Ava for an effective assesment that answers these questions so the correct support is implemented.

        The social worker needs to use these knowledge and skills with Ava, Ava is resisting support, however if its deemed necessary that Ava needs an assesment it will be crucial to use this knowledge to achieve the best outcome.

        Eligability criteria helps local authorities determine whether an adult is eligible for care and support. The three eligibility criteria are as follows: -Needs for care and support are related to physical or mental impairment or illness -Impact on wellbeing . The Ca14 statutory guidance provides local authorities with an explanation of how to implement the legislation appropriatly (Department of health and social care, 2022b)

        Ava has multiple possible safeguarding concerns, once an assesment has been compiled by the social worker following the safeguarding principles. Ava could empower herself by being involved in the assesment process and the social worker is directed by Avas wants first

        S9 The Local authority duties for an assesment: undertake assesment of anyone who may need care and support, ensure its person centred, co-produced, provide an advocate. (Gov.uk, 2014)
        
        Avas assesment must be personal to her and in a way she wants Avas well being is paramount not her health, its what Ava wants that matters and she will say what she needs for her well being- need to question wether her living environment affects her well-being and is a risk- if so then under S9 CA14 the local authority has a duty to do an assesment (Gov.uk, 2014) .
        
        S42 CA14 duty to make enquiries if an adult is at risk of abuse or neglect- Ava could be at risk of abuse, man asking for money, living conditions, therefore she is unable to refuse assesment. this conflicts with the HRA98 (gov.uk, 2014)
      - S67-68 CA14 requires the local authority to provide an advocate if the individual is unable to do 1 or more of the following things: Difficulty understanding information, retaining the informtaion, using or weighing that information as part of the process of being involved, communicating the individual's views, wishes or feelings (Care Act 2014)
        
        Ava may need an advocate to help her as she is refusing support despite her health concerns and the possible dangerous living conditions
  - - - Role of these principles is to protect people who lack capacity and enable them to assist in the decsion making process
      - S2-4 assesment of capacity section of MCA: If a person's mind or brain is damaged by a disease or disability, you may need to assess their capacity in order to determine whether they are capable of making a certain decision at a given time. Capacity is decision and time specific. You can't judge someone's capacity solely on their age, appearance, health, or behaviours. (MCA, 2005)
        
        Assessing capacity 2 stages- A person lacks capacity in relation to a matter if at the material time he has an impairment of or a disturbance in the functioning of, the mind or brain (diagnostic test)
        Functional test- Stage 2: A person is unable to make a particular decision if they cannot do one or more of the following four things: 1-understand the information regarding the decision, 2-retain that information, 3-use or weigh that information , 4-communicate his decision (MCA, 2005)
        
        Ava must be deemed to have capacity and if deemed that an assesment around capacity is required Ava must be fully involved. It must be undertaken based on certain decisions and may need to be undertaken more than once.
        
        Best interest decision: Do not discriminate, asses all circumstances, could capacity be regained, co-produce, akcnowledge past and present wishes, feelings and beliefs (SCIE, 2017a)
        
        Each risk for Ava needs a new capacity assesment, she may have capacity in some areas but not others.I.e the fire risk in relation to the electric fire close to the sofa, nutrition needs, and the wound on her leg combined with her other health needs-diabetes and high blood pressure
    - - Code of conduct: S42 of the MCA explains purpose of the coduct (s4&5 provides details of the indiduvals who have a legal duty to have a regard to the code. S43:explains the procedures undertaken when the code was being prepared (DCA, 2007)

        Ava Should have her freedon taken away due to her living conditions and she has the right to live as she pleases unless it is deemed she lacks capacity.

        Avas age, gender and health conditions should not affect her care
- - - - Avas physiological needs- Has a flat for shelter, does have access to food, has money-however her flat appears to be in disrepair? not sure what ava is eating, or how much money Ava has? is this impacting Ava's well being
        
        Ava's saftey and security-Health, Ava has multiple health concerns, is this affecting her wellbeing? will a district nurse help? is that what Ava wants? does she meet the criteria for an assesment as is it a safeguarding concern? Ava doesnt appear to work, doesnt socialise and has a brother she does not see-Social worker needs to uncover if ths affects her well-being.
        
        Ava-Love and belonging-Ava has Alisha who is concerned about her, however Ava does not want to see her, the social worker needs to uncover the impact Sydneys death had-Grief and loss theory could support the social worker.
        
        Ava-self esteem- does Ava lack self-esteem due the pervious needs not being met, will supporting Ava through a task focused approach enable Ava's wellbeing to increase? is Avas wwellbeing low?
        
        Self actualisation-Social worker to support Ava to find meaning to her life-socialising with friends, contacting her brother and undertaking activities she used to enjoy, would this help. Ava Acknowledging that her well-being is affected and she needs support may empower Ava.
        
        The social worker must not let her personal bias affect the support and Ava needs to discover what she needs without being told
