Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are a way of obtaining feedback that can be used to improve teaching and learning. Instructors are able to recognize when students are struggling and make an immediate change. These assessments have a low point value.

Create a Video: Students create a video explaining their reasoning on a topic. This will give an idea on how much they understand.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: A comparison of student understanding or performance against a set of uniform standards within the same school year.

AP Exam: This is an advanced placement exam that measures student knowledge at the end of the school year.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are high stake and are used at the end of an instructional unit to compare learning against some type of benchmark.

Final Project: Project that will give a student evaluation to determine if understanding was achieved on a unit over a specific time period.
