Choose three fuels that can be easily accessible, promote clean emissions, cost effective and is most efficient in terms of energy output. You must be able to make these fuels from raw materials; these raw materials must be able to be accessible/made in a developing country.
What is a raw material?
Raw materials are basic materials known as feedstock from which a product such as fuel is made (Oxford Dictionary 2023).

Easily accessible fuels
natural gas is found in subsurface rock and with advancements in technology, many companies are able to drill effectively and obtain large amounts of natural gas (U.S. Energy Information Administration 2022).
petroleum can be obtained through drilling into the Earth's surface in natural reservoirs, however, these reservoirs are becoming less common thus, making it more difficult to obtain petroleum (National Geographic, 2023).
Coal is very accessible as it is abundant across the globe and can be mined easily. Many countries also have mining as an established practice and have factories dedicated to producing energy from coal making it accessible as a fuel source (IEA, 2023).
biodiesel is fairly easy to obtain as it only requires fatty acids from either animals or vegetable oils which are widely available. The manufacturing process is also quite straightforward, only requiring esterification (US Department of Energy, 2019).
most accessible - biofuels and biomass as they are both renewable resources and both fuels are also more widely available than oils and coal.

biodiesel can be produced from vegetable oils, cooking oils, animal fat and yellow grease. Oils such as soy and canola could be produced from agriculture that is grown in developing countries and thus, is easily accessible (U.S. Energy Information Administration 2022).
Biomass is easily accessible as many materials can be used as feedstock such as plants and algae which are abundant across the globe, and also renewable meaning that they will continue to be abundant (IEA, 2023)

cost effective fuels
coal was previously the cheapest source as it was originally abundant and we already have necessary infrastructure set up for production and refinement however, renewable energy sources are now overtaking making coal the cheapest of fossil fuels instead of the cheapest fuel overall (IEA, 2023)
Biomass is less expensive than fossil fuels such as coal as it requires less machinery in production such as drills and pipelines. However, it is still more expensive than solar and wind power due to transportation and storage costs (Mcfarland, K. 2017).
Solar panels and wind turbines are the most cost effective due to low production cost and their renewability making them available (IEA, 2023).

what is a fuel?
a compound with stored energy that can be released through combustion (Encyclopaedia, 2019)
