Secularism - Coggle Diagram
Secularism
Separation of church and state
State governing what we should believe and how we should live
Leading to fundamentalist atheism
How do we combat this without compromising the separation of church and state?
Most Christians believe that church should not govern the state and the state should not govern the church
If the state governs the church and they do not comply, this leads to assumptions
Assumptions in today's society include if we do not believe in same-sex marriage, we are homophobic
How do we unify the state and the church without governing one another?
Isn't this a direct contradiction to our freedoms or religion and so forth?
What role should religion play in a free society?
In today's society, it is thought that there should be no link
Not the case in the founding of the country
What has changed in society that makes people believe there is no connection between religion and a free society?
Could it be the result of the nature of man = sinful
Religion helps to ground people and form a good moral compass
Good moral compass could lead to lower crime rates and violence, more "good" people
Is it to idealistic to assume that our world would be better off with religion in our society?
What is it and what is it thought to be?
Thought to be about rejecting religion altogether
This comes from an issue with authority in today's culture
Will lead to a rejection of anything besides self-governing
It is unbelief in a personal God who holds authority
Society today is "all about me"
What has caused this? Social media? Pressure from others?
Christians must work to maintain central purpose on earth, to glorify God
