The Giant Squid (Architeuthis)

Kingdom: All squids belong to the kingdom of animalia. They are multicellular organisms that utilize a nucleus in genetic replication. They are also heterotrophic due to their use of other organisms for food.

Phylum: They belong to the Mollusca phylum. Most mollusks have very soft bodies and distinct head and foot regions.

Class: Giant squids are members of the Cephalopoda class. Giant squids fall in this category due to their ability to solve problems and their tentacles / aquatic adaptations.

Order: Giant squids are Teuthida when it comes to their order. The emergent factor that separates squids from other cephalopods isn't their jet propulsion ability, but the adaptations made to allow giant squids to control it. The anatomy of a squid is built around this jet propulsion technique differentiating them from the lot.

Family: The giant squid is part of the Architeuthidae family due to its capability of growing to a very large size compared to other squids.

Genus: Its genus is Architeuthis because it is a deep dwelling oceanic creature.

Species: Architeuthis dux. This is its species cause the words are Latin for chief. The giant squid was considered a myth and a monster in medieval aeras birthing the name "Chief Squid".
