Sociocultural Influences on adolescents
Friends
Physical: When we are with friends, we may gain similar interest or get influenced by them. Maybe in playing sports, doing exercise or even dieting. Resulting in a having a healtheir body.
Cognitive: Friends could influence us in getting better grades. When friends go for tutoring or reviewing for an exam, may help influence us to do the same. Resulting in having better grades.
Socioemotional: We usually hangout with friends and learn how to be a good friend to fit into a group. We tend to start changing our personality to fit into a group of friends, to be able to talk to them and create strong bond. Therefore, friends sometimes influence us to have better personality and teach us how to create strong bonds.
School
Cognitive: School is the main place we go an enhance our cognitive skills. School has teachers that teaches us and help us to get to a certain level of knowledge. Resulting, in having more cognitive skills.
Socioemotional: We see many people in school, including friends and teachers. Seeing these people influence us to learn bondings and how to maintain relationships. Could help us to learn to have stronger bonds and how to live with other people.
Physical: In school, there are a lot of opportunities given to us. Such as, sports club and gymnasium. Which may influence us to go into the club and use the gymnasium provided. Resulting in having healthier bodies and also create ties with friends with the same interests in clubs.
Community
Cognitive: When we're in a community, we're exposed to many varieties of ideas and other people's thoughts and feeling. People in our community can help teach us certain things we don't know before. Which will help us improve our cognitive skills very much.
Socioemotional: Community is a big group of people that we need to learn to fit it. Being in a community helps us to learn how to live with others happily without any conflicts. It also help us to learn to share, communicate and have emphathy to others. This will help us enhance our over-all human being skills and personality.
Physical: Our community can help us develop physically. If we live in a certain community that do sports and exercise, we're likely to do the same to get in with them. People in our community can influence us to maintain good body and eat a good diet. Resulting in having a better body shape.
Social Media
Cognitive: Social media provides us with many platforms to learn from. It provides with ideas and information from many point of views, helping us enhance our cognitive skills. There could also be some learning advertisement and people succesfully completing something. Influencing us to try to be like them and start studying and developing our cognitive skills.
Socioemotional: Thesedays people often communicate through social media. Social media keeps us in touch with friends and family. Also keeps us intouch with online friends and learning more about them. Learning to communicate with strangers and people who are different from us. Enhancing our overall skill of communicating and understanding.
Physical: Social Media is one of the biggest platforms people use in this world, where a lot of people get influenced. When we watch videos or look at photos and sees people having a good body and diet, we are likely to get influence and do the same. May result in having a better body and improve over all health.
Summary: I think the effects on teenagers from these influences are that teenagers develop into a better person overall. They also develop their skills and mindset from these influences. I think Social Media influences teens the most. These days teens are addicted to social media. Everyone has social media and talks about them. Social media influences them a lot. Seeing other people makes them want to do the same thing. We could also see that teens these days do the same thing they see on social media.
