TYPE OF STRATEGIES
(A)
Predictive skills
Readers predict what we will read by the context and elements surrounding the text
The process of reading consists of seeing if those expectations created before reading coincide with the reality of the text
The elements that influence are: title, subtitle, images, illustrations, paragraphs, text length
(B)
Scanning
Consists of browsing and tracing the text without reading it in full to search for relevant information
(C)
Skimming
Obtain in a text the general idea that it entails, that is, the theme of the text
Tips for a good skimming
Read the titles and subtitles
Read the first sentence of each paragraph
Read the first paragraph or the introduction
Look at highlighted or differently formatted words
Look at images, tables or graphs
Read the last paragraph

Using the context
Consists of trying to obtain the meanings of the word or words unknown by the textual context that surrounds it

Are the activities we do before reading the text. They help students to activate what they already know and focus on the main ideas in the text

The activities that are carried out during the reading of the text help the student to develop various reading strategies, improve their knowledge of the foreign language
About first reading
The teacher reads the text aloud to the students
Students read the text silently.
Students read the text aloud

guess the meaning of unknown words from the context
Watch the structures of the sentences to discover the function of the unknown word
predict text content
read specific pieces of text
answer comprehension questions while reading the text
