11.reproduction in humans :red_flag::+1:
How do human reproduce?
humans reproduce by sexual reproduction which involves a male and a female
organs involved in reproduction form the reproduction system
Male Reproduction System
penis help in the transfer
testes produce male reproductive cells called sperms
Female Reproduction System
ovaries develop female reproductive cells called eggs or ova(ovum singular)
one egg is produced each month from 1 ovary
womb is where fertilised egg develops
vagina is the muscular tube leading from the womb
reproductive system is inactive during childhood, when male matures, testes begin to produce sperms, when female mature, eggs are already present in olvary
Sperm and egg contain genetic information that is passed on from parents to their young
In sexual reproduction, the male and female mate and their
reproductive cells meet
what happens during and after fertilisation
During fertilisation, sperms from the male testes are released into females' egg through penis
sperm swims using a tail
only one sperm will fuse with the egg and others will die
After the sperm fuses with the egg, the egg is said to be fertilised
baby develops in womb in nine months
developing baby is attached to a umbilical cord used to supply nourishment and oxygen to the body and remove waste products from baby's body
fertilized egg divides to many cells
similarities to reproduction in flowers
involve both male and female reproductive cells
male and female cells fuse
both involves passing down of traits
