Light - Coggle Diagram
Light
Ray of light
-
-
Angle of reflection
-
Reflected ray is the light ray travelling away from the reflecting surface after bouncing off the surface.
-
Visible lights
Plants rely on the energy provided by visible light to make sugars using carbon dioxide and water through photosynthesis.
-
Cause chemical changes, resulting in the deterioration of their quality.
In museums, care is taken to protect very old documents, photographs and paintings.
Thats why flash photography is disallowed in some museums. Some of these objects are stored in the dark to avoid discolouration by light
Another harmful effect, light pollution.
-
Light pollution negatively impacts living things that depend on Earth's cycle of day and night to carry out life-sustaining activities, migration, reproduction, searching for food, sleeping and escaping from predators
-
Infrared Radiation
-
Harmful effects
Overexposure to infrared radiation can harm us. Infrared radiation is most commonly released in welding, cutting and brazing operations. Eg: furnaces and molten metal production. Workers who have prolonged exposure to infrared radiation must wear goggles to protect their eyes.
Infrared radiation trapped in the atmosphere also contributes to climate change. Result, temperatures on Earth have increased and weather patterns have changed in ways that can harm living things

Types of mirrors
Plane mirrors
-
-
-
The image is laterally inverted. Mirror reverses the left and right sides of an image. Eg: you raise up ur right hand, ur image will appear to raise its left hand
Curved mirrors
Convex mirrors
virtual, upright and diminished (wide like 0.5 cam)
-
Concave mirrors
Virtual, upright and magnified images (zoomed in smth liddat)
-
-
Refraction of light
-
Refraction, the bending of light at the boundary between 2 different transparent materials (eg: optical mediums) due to change in the speed of light as it passes from 1 material into the other.
Optical medium has a physical property called optical density that affect the speed at which light travels through the medium.
Migratory birds
-
Artificial lights disrupt migrations of birds, causing them to migrate too early or too late.
Fatal to the birds, may miss the ideal climate conditions for nesting and having an adequate food supply.
