- - - - parents in particular set an early example for their children, which stays with them forever even if they are sometimes indifferent. Other role models include teachers, coaches and religious (priests, pastors, nuns etc.) an may expose people to good religious experiences and teach them to live along religious moral values
    - - for example, a teenager is likely to be indifferent to religion due to peer pressure, technology and social media
    - - the wealthier a person is, the less religious they are likely to be, due to their security. For example, "Malawi is one of the most religious nations" and "it is also one of the poorest" as "religion is most able to thrive in dysfunctional societies". Although, the US, because of its culture being unsafe, has a highly religious population.
    - - religion is deeply ingrained in some cultures, and there is pressure to conform to a religion, and malignant laws and traditions may make someone more faithful
    - - those with higher education are often less religious, however having a good experience of Religious Education their belief in God can be strengthened
    - - life events that can be categorised in 'others, creation and personal' lead people to ask questions about the meaning and purpose of their life, due to their innate curiosity and metacognition.

        Positive peer pressure:makes it acceptable for teens to practice their faith in more active ways, such as volunteering or working for charities
        
        Good role models: parents can set an example for their children which leaves an imprint on them, and teachers can expose children to good experiences in RE or union between the kids and God during meditation, liturgies etc. Religious can be a living example of the love of God in the world
      - Negative Influence
        
        Social media: "encourages a secularist world view" (module booklet) with idols and film promote the idea that success means wealth, beauty and fame
        Can negatively influence young people to avoid or block religious beliefs and practices and move further away from God
        
        Negative peer pressure: may make teens think it isn't cool to go to church
        
        Technology: distracts young people from communicating with God that often requires time, reflection, openness etc.
        
        Consumerism: distracts and removes young people from religious observance and prayer, preventing them from experiencing religious beliefs and practices

- - - - his mother and brother died when he was around 9, in 1929, and subsequently he "turned increasingly to studies and prayer"
      - After moving to Krakow in order to study drama, WWII began and Nazis invaded Poland, and Karol was forced to find work in a quarry. The suffering "focused his heart", leading him to join a resistance which introduced him to the idea that church could improve the world
      - When Karol returned home, he found his father dead, moving him to study priesthood
      - the soviet communist government came to rule soon after, and Karol joined an underground seminary to continue his studies and eventually was ordained priest
      - as a pope, JP2's visits to other countries and intimacy with his people was far more than any pope before him - until unfortunately, on May 13 1981, he was shot and almost fatally wounded by an assassin. When he healed, he visited the would-be assassin and forgave him.
    - - when he was a bishop, one of his many goals was to build a church in a small town in Krakow. It began with a cross, which was taken down by Soviets, yet he persisted. After a decade of him and the town persevering and continuing to build, his goal was reached

  - - - he became a cardinal, auxiliary bishop, (Vatican II) and after Pope John Paul died unexpectedly soon after election, Karol was made Pope John Paul II
    - - influenced the Solidarity Movement in his homeland (with US President) to stop Communism
    - - Pope's message: "Dear young people, like the first disciples, follow Jesus! Do not be afraid to draw near to him, to cross the threshold of his dwelling, to speak with him, face to face, as you talk with a friend"
      - Pope John Paul often preached about the Christian Virtue "Hope".
        He sets his life as an example to preach to young people about "never loosing hope" even after facing many difficulties and challenges.
      - He became an "international" pope because he used the media and new technology as his advantage to influence a lot of young people
