to do this you would take a peice of potato and cut it up into chunks. then you would weigh the potatos. then you would put the potatos in difrent amount of concentrated water and leave for 48 hours. after 48 hours you would take the [potatos out of the water and dry them to remove all exces water . you would then weigh the potatos again. if the potato had gained weight it is hipotonic if the potato has lost wight it is hypertonic and if it has stayed the same it is isotonic

Onion skin practical
We used a light microscope to observe the features of the skin including the cell wall and nucleus.
Extract a thin piece of onion skin and place in on a slide. cover in iodine and place a cover slide on top. Then by adjusting the course and fine focus to increase resolution and the objective lens to zoom in.
Microscopes:
Light microscopes have several steps to be setup. Firstly plug it in. Then place something on the slide and secure it. Next look at it through the eye piece and determine what needs to be adjusted. If it is blurry, change the course/fine focus. If it is far away, uses the objective lens
Electron microscopes are different as they are bigger and more expensive. They make the image by using beams of electrons to form an image.
Active transport is where energy is required to substances to move in or out of the cell membrane. This is because it goes from an area of low to high concentration. It gets this energy from the mitochondria-respiration and or the chloroplast-photosinthisis.
