Formative

Interim Benchmark
Definition: An interim assessment is a test administered at different intervals during the school year to check students' grasp of content and guide future instruction.
STAAR: STAAR stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, which is the state's student testing program. The assessments are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, which are the state curriculum standards.

Summative
Definition: The goal of summative assessment is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark.

Definition:A performance assessment involves applying and showing skills and knowledge through various performance tasks.
Cut and Paste: students will do an activity assessing their knowledge of money. Students will put a quarter with the correct value "25cents"

Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessment can help identify students' current knowledge of a subject, their skill sets, and capabilities, and to clarify misconceptions before teaching takes place. Knowing students' strengths and weaknesses can help teachers plan what to teach and how to teach it.
Running Record: A running record assesses what a student knows and understands about the reading process.
KWL Chart: K-W-L charts are graphic organizers that help students organize information before, during, and after a unit or a lesson.
