Assessments
Interim / Benchmark
A type of Formal Assessment - It can be used to check the progress of student learning and growth when comparing the past Interim / Benchmark test to the next.
STAAR
Taken at the end of the school year, it is the Texas standardized test covering subjects such as math, science, English language arts, and history.
AimsWeb
Taken once in the Fall and a second time during the Spring, this assessment measures students' progress going from one semester to the next. Measures fluency in vocabulary, grammar, math computation, etc.
Diagnostic
A pre-assessment used to gauge where a student sits in their learning of content material at the beginning of the school year or content. Identifies students' weakness and strengths in the content area.

KWL
Way for student to meta-cognitively think on what they know of the material, what they wish to learn from the lesson, and what they did learn from the lesson.
Performance
Asks that students showcase their learning, or preform, through demonstrations or justifications.
Anchor Chart
Students will create an anchor chart by solving a problem and clearly listing their steps and explanations.

Formative
Gathering evidence of student learning to adjust instruction and provide feedback. Can be split into informal and formal assessments
Exit Ticket
Students will complete an exit ticket before leaving the classroom consisting of one question relating to the current unit being taught.
Turn and Talk
Students will Turn and Talk to their shoulder partner / group members to discuss a question asked by the teacher.
Summative
An assessment that takes place after a long period of time to assess how much a student has acquired after a long chunk of learning. Takes place at the end of the year, semester, or end of unit.
Project / Presentation
After being given a prompt, students will create a presentation or complete a project that utilizes the newly learned material and skills.
Unit Test
Exam covering material at the end of a unit, variety of question types an levels of difficulty.
