ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH:
PGD is directed towards the qualitive selction and consequent destruction of embryos, which counts as an act of abortion. therefore, its seen as shameful since it presumes to measure the value of human life only within the boundaries of 'normality' and physical well-being.
They believe that those who are sick and disabled shouldnt be seen as a separate category of humanity. This is therefore seen as being ableist and it esentially states you can discard the embryo because of disabilities or abnormalities that are found in PGD.
CHURCH OF SCOTLAND
Many in the church are absolutely opposed to PGD because it knowingly sets out to destroy embryos that do not meet the selection critea. the liklehood that they carry a predisposition to a serious condition is not sufficent warrant for other humans to deny them the chance of living.
Like the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH the CHURCH OF SCOTLAND agrees PGD only adds to the stigmatisation of the disabled.
