Environmentalists

This is a group that includes specific stakeholders from central government departments and statutory agencies, statutory agencies are government bodies that have powers defined in law this includes the Environment Agency.
They provide a useful input into challenging the ideas of their sustainability plan and making sure they reach and obtain certain standards.

Relocated Homeowners
This is a group or community that has been relocated from their homes because of the High Speed Rail development going through London to West Midlands, from West Midlands to Crewe and from Crewe to Manchester and West Midlands to Leeds.
They have been a high priority for the government as they are the ones that have been greatly impacted from the development.

Taxpayers
The HS2 project is being funded by the government and will end up costing tremendous amounts of money, the main percentage of the funding given to the project is from taxpayers. A while ago a study was carried out a by the Taxpayers Alliance which showed that at the current state HS2 will cost £1000 per family. People who had previously supported HS2 don't like this figure.

Commuters
The HS2 project is being created for the purpose of making transport easier for commuters. The HS2 project is being built on the existing lines which will free up capacity, it will also enable more commuter services and more freight services.

Businesses
Businesses is another main focus of the HS2 project as the project will provide huge economic growth, a new report released by HS2 outlines the economic benefits delivered by the HS2 project so far across the West Midlands, it predicted that HS2 delivers a £1.7 billion boost to the West Midland businesses.
